Job Description

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Technical Writer/ IT Knowledge Management Specialist for a Contract opportunity in St. Louis. This role offers the chance to apply your skills in support of meaningful work for one of our client partners.

LRS Consulting Services has been delivering the highest quality consultants to our clients since 1979. We've built a solid reputation for dealing with our clients and our consultants with honesty, integrity, and respect. We work hard every day to maintain that reputation.

Our client, a large, employee-owned national organization headquartered in St. Louis, is looking for an experienced Technical Writer/ IT Knowledge Management Specialist to lead a documentation migration and improvement project for its IT support organization. The specialist will move existing IT knowledge base content into a new central document library (Sharepoint), update it, and fill gaps by working with multiple technical teams. The finished library will support the Technology Support staff and AI-powered self-service tools, so accuracy, consistency, and clear structure are critical. This role suits a self-directed professional who can plan the work, manage stakeholders, and deliver with limited oversight.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Inventory existing knowledge base content and recommend what to keep, update, consolidate, or retire
  • Migrate content into standardized documents, reviewing for accuracy and resolving duplicate or conflicting documentation
  • Partner with multiple IT teams and subject matter experts to consolidate technical documentation and write new articles where gaps exist
  • Design the knowledge library structure — folders, naming conventions, metadata, and permissions — and develop article templates and a documentation style guide
  • Provide regular status updates and set up an ownership/review process so content stays current after the project ends

Requirements:

  • Must work on-site five days a week
  • Experience with technical writing, knowledge management, or IT documentation
  • Experience leading a documentation or content migration project from start to finish
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and SharePoint at an advanced level
  • Experience working with technical subject matter experts to gather and translate information into documentation
  • Experience with common IT support topics, including Microsoft 365, identity and access management, and end-user troubleshooting
