Job Description
Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Architect who thrives on solving complex cloud challenges, driving modernization initiatives, and delivering measurable business value through technology. This remote contract opportunity offers the chance to lead a cloud transformation effort, helping an organization optimize costs, modernize infrastructure, and accelerate its adoption of Azure platform services.
Responsibilities
- Lead Azure cloud modernization and re-platforming initiatives for a growing business environment.
- Assess existing Azure infrastructure and develop recommendations to improve scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Analyze current IaaS deployments and identify opportunities to migrate workloads to Azure PaaS services.
- Develop and execute Azure cost optimization strategies, including resource analysis, rightsizing, governance, and spending controls.
- Create cloud architecture roadmaps and implementation plans aligned with business objectives.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to identify priorities, mitigate risks, and drive project outcomes.
- Implement Azure best practices related to security, monitoring, automation, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Evaluate and optimize Azure networking, storage, compute, and platform services.
- Document current-state and future-state architectures, recommendations, and migration plans.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and change agent throughout the cloud transformation effort.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong experience with both Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions.
- Proven experience leading cloud migration, modernization, or cloud transformation projects.
- Experience performing Azure cost analysis, optimization, governance, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Azure architecture, networking, security, identity management, and monitoring.
- Experience evaluating workloads and migrating applications from traditional infrastructure to cloud-native services.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project execution skills.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones, Azure Governance, and Cloud Adoption Framework best practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Experience modernizing small-to-mid-sized enterprise environments following acquisitions or organizational transitions.
- Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience supporting distributed teams across multiple time zones.
The base range for this contract position is $100.00 - $135.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
