Job Description

LRS is seeking a Senior Exchange Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 and Office 365 (Microsoft 365) to lead and support enterprise-level migrations to a hybrid Exchange environment with Single Sign-On (SSO) integration. This role requires hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and optimizing hybrid identity and messaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of Exchange Hybrid deployments between on-premises Exchange 2019 and Exchange Online.
  • Plan and execute mailbox migrations (cutover, staged, and hybrid migrations) with minimal downtime.
  • Configure and maintain Azure AD Connect, including directory synchronization and identity federation.
  • Implement and support Single Sign-On (SSO) using technologies such as:
    • Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
    • Pass-through Authentication (PTA)
    • Seamless SSO
  • Manage and optimize mail flow, including connectors, transport rules, and security policies.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to:
    • Hybrid configuration
    • Identity and authentication
    • Mail delivery and routing
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce compliance, retention, and data protection policies.
  • Perform system health checks, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Document architecture, configurations, and migration processes.
  • Provide post-migration support and optimization for Microsoft 365 workloads (Exchange Online, Teams integration if applicable).

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange (2013/2016/2019).
  • 3+ years of experience implementing Exchange Hybrid environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Exchange 2019 to Exchange Online migrations
    • Hybrid Configuration Wizard (HCW)
    • Azure AD Connect configuration and troubleshooting
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • SMTP, DNS, Autodiscover, and mail routing concepts
    • PowerShell scripting for Exchange and M365 administration
  • Experience implementing SSO solutions:
    • AD FS or Azure AD authentication methods
  • Familiarity with identity lifecycle management and user provisioning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications such as: o Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate
    • Azure Administrator or Identity certifications
  • Experience with: o Modern Authentication (OAuth, MFA, Conditional Access)
    • Security tools like Defender for Office 365
    • Hybrid coexistence scenarios (free/busy sharing, calendar federation)
  • Knowledge of backup, archiving, and disaster recovery strategies for Exchange.

The base range for this contract position is $60 - $80 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
